Microsoft DirectX Free Multimedia APIs is a free collection of APIs for programming graphics and audio. This makes it easier for developers, especially game developers, to create games with all the features that work in Windows. Most people don’t even notice that DirectX works – it only works when it’s needed, without notifying you. Interaction with it is also a bit more complicated and requires programming tools for audio and graphics management (function () {(‘review-app-page-desktop’);}); DirectX is a technical tool that helps game developers interact with sound and graphics cards. Although it can be installed on any computer, most users never need it. It launches when you play a game with DirectX, and that’s it. You just need to know this better if you want to program yourself. It has one of the smoothest driving processes in its class. What is DirectX used for? DirectX is a set of Windows interfaces. Developers program in the DirectX API, which allows their applications – often games – to interact properly with sound and graphics cards. In turn, sound and graphics card manufacturers know about DirectX, so they know what to do when a program created with DirectX has access to their functionality. Do you already have DirectX? Because DirectX doesn’t have an interface like other programs (for example, it won’t appear in your list of programs), you need to be a little more technical to make sure it’s already installed on your computer. Follow these steps to check: Click Start, click Run dxdiag, and then click OK. On the System tab, notice the DirectX version that appears in the DirectX version bar. Check the version information of each DirectX file on different tabs. When you have finished checking the file versions, click Finish DirectX Installation. If you find that DirectX is not installed on your computer(or if the version is very old), you will have to download DirectX again to use it. Downloading is easy, and as you might expect, you download and run .exe as usual. Installation is slow, which can be a bit upsetting and beware – the program tries to install Bing during installation. How do I open the DirectX control panel? Because DirectX is not a standard program, you cannot open it in the usual way. Instead, click the Start button and type dxdiag in the field. The computer will ask you if you want to run DirectX. An open window is a very traditional Windows interface. All the information it provides is for informational purposes only – lots of details about your system, display settings, visualization features and drivers, audio information, and current input devices. You are not interacting with this information – there is an error window, and if you program and make an error, the error will be displayed here. You go back and correct it, and the error will disappear. Who needs DirectX? There are two situations when you may need DirectX. If you play games on a computer that requires DirectX to run. Maybe you already have it. If you are programming items that require access to sound and graphics cards, you may also need DirectX.
Keep in mind that DirectX is not the only tool of its kind. There are other APIs that interact with video cards, and many of them are more modern. You can compare this to a real app like Runtime, but if you’re playing or developing certain games or on certain machines (perhaps older), you may well need hardware that most don’t have. The need for DirectX is a reliable technology that has been introduced. a few years and still strong. Graphics and sound technology work very well (which is why it is still relevant, although it is very old), and the interface is very useful, even if it is very outdated. However, most of us never dowill not see – if you do not program, you will never even have to open it, because it will just run in the background without realizing it. DirectX is not really the type of software you want or don’t want. If you need it, you will have to install it and it is quite painless. Recent changes The latest version of DirectX improves compatibility with Windows 10 and adds support for variable rate shading (VRS). Other new versions have added support for DirectX Raytracing, depth limit testing and programmable MSAA.
