A criminal declares himself crazy and is admitted to a mental institution, where he rebels against the oppressive nurse and gathers rescued patients.

To escape prison duties, McMurphy declares himself insane and is sent to a ward for mentally unstable people. Once here, McMurphy endures and witnesses the oppressive nurse Ratched’s abuse and humiliation, which is given superiority and power through the shortcomings of the other inmates. McMurphy and the other prisoners work together to take a rebellious stance against the cruel nurse.
